This wonderful FREE annual event celebrates this history of the town and it's Viking links. The event includes a Viking village, re-enactment of a battles, a parade and burning of a boat, built for the occasion.

The event is in the past has been supported by The Wuffa and Saxon re-enactment Society and I am sure will in 2025, the event run by Sheringham Carnival. It's free of charge to attend, but donations welcomed to help fund the following years, to donate click here

three locations:

10am - 4pm Viking Village and Battles - Beeston Common, Cromer Road, Sheringham

7pm Viking Parade from Station Approach car park, followed by

7.30pm Boat burning on Sheringham's west prom seafront, located around the beach area at the foot of the slope by The Esplanade.

Plenty of choice for eating in Sheringham, booking advisable if your not having takeaway.


Viking Village - located on Beeston common, no immediate parking on site so use public car parks and access on foot is essential.

Viking Village set-up:

  • Live demonstrations

  • Creative activities

  • Educational activities

  • Live battles re-enactments

Suitable footwear suggested as it can be boggy, subject to weather conditions


What else to do in the seaside town of Sheringham, North Norfolk: Plenty of shops, many independent, a large variety of independent places to eat. Several museums: Sheringham museum, Peter Cooke Shell Gallery & Fisherman's lifeboat museum, the popular North Norfolk Railway a steam and diesel line that run's to Holt from Sheringham and of course the promenade and beach. See the tide timetable, sand is available approximately 2hrs either side of low and high tide. So plenty to do whilst in Sheringham for the day.

Confused on what date it's on. Is it the 1st or the 8th April please?

It is now the 1st of April The Carnival Committee that run this even have now changed the original date Viking Event & Parade | Facebook
